St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day Fun

No one was pinched... a class full of green!

Painting rainbows and the Ireland flag.

Practicing fine motor skills and patterns
making Fruit Loop necklaces.

What is your favorite way to eat a potato?  We also made predictions
and then determined the actual weight and length of our potatoes.

Did you know that potatoes have "eyes"?
We found out the number of eyes on each potato.

We made observations with our senses.
We mixed powder ( pistachio pudding) with milk!

We had fun using our creativity on St. Patty's Day!

Measurement

Measurement Fun

We read this book and then enjoyed
math snack by making our own balancing scales with Fruit Loops.

"The scale had to have the bubble in the middle to balance." - Jacob

"We were balancing erasers and stuff like that.
It balances because it is equal.  We had to keep trying." -Molly

"We were measuring crayons and eggs.
The crayons were heavier than the eggs." -Marlie

"We made a scale using bottle caps and mac and cheese.
We noticed it was weighed. We made them the same. " -Payton

"First we were balancing blocks with mac and cheese.
Then we were balancing with a spider with blocks.  The spider was lighter
but we added more to it. " -Olivia

"So I put things on the sides to put
them the same each time we balanced it." - Jennifer

Green Peppers and Spiders

March... St. Patrick's Day...

We sparked some curiosity by bringing in some
 green peppers.

What do you notice?

We decided to cut the peppers and make some math observations.
"There are MORE seeds on the top pepper." -Natalie
"The top peppers are 4 +4 and that equals 8.  It looks like a clover."- Josh
"The peppers look different and were cut in half."- Addison

We also filled out "I Wonder" papers...

We used the peppers to paint our tables.

Oh No.. There is a spider crawling on the floor,we need to let it outside.
And so it began...

We read a book about spiders to learn more information. We have binoculars to search for spiders outside.
We create our own spiders using yarn.
We write sentences about our findings.
We write poems and songs about spiders.
We create our own web and attach it to our window.
