Spring Gardens Part Two

Spring Gardens Part Two

 We were fortunate enough to have students from HSE FFA to come back again and help guide our students in planting vegetables and herbs in our gardens.  They have been our experts that our young kindergarten children ook to as role models.

The Carrot Seed, did you know that carrots
can be yellow and have lots of stems on the top of them?

 We had to measure the garden bed into equal parts.
We used twine and tape to mark off our areas.

We even had a little time to play some games!
 We listened to our experts tell us about sunflower seeds and plants.
Then, we planted sunflower seeds.
Within 7-10 days we should notice some growth!

We enjoyed playing a game of "hot potato" with a beet!
We learned we could use the beet to even write on paper which was the color purple!

We finished our time with a question and answer session.

We enjoyed eating a whole plant!
seeds=sunflower seeds
flower= brocoli
leaves=lettuce/spinach
stem= celery
roots=carrots

We had to write the words in the spaces
and create sentences before we taste tested!

We LOVED brocoli!
 Some students painted with the vegetables
while others created vegetables with a variety of colors.
